Engineer Conference

Mobile app for the US Army Fort Leonard Wood Engineer Conference for 2011
Mobile app for the US Army Fort Leonard Wood Engineer Conference for 2011

We did this app on a whim and it ended up taking a lot longer than we thought. CPT Braunstein and I were at Fort Leonard Wood for a meeting about encryption when someone posted on MilBook about making this app. We decided to contact that person, since we were at FLW at the time, and go see about the details.

I thought it would initially be simple -- just take the code from the Signal Conference app, and reuse the locations from a mock app I already did of the FLW locations, and it should be done in no time. It turned out to take a lot more work and was a lot harder than we thought, eventually pushing it to get released the day the conference started. Part of the problem was the twitter and facebook APIs changed, but there were also some issues with working out which content to put in the app. All in all, we learned quite a bit from it.
